We arrived around 8.30am & a local chap came onboard & gave a most informative talk on the history of Slovakia....sounds like everyone has had a piece of them in history...interesting that when they split from Checzk & Iron curtain they apparently had thriving arms manufacturing which all closed down, but they encouraged investment with 19% flat tax rate & have been going ahead leaps & bounds, only 5 million pop though.

The derelict house is quite common occurence |
We then went on a walking tour with a local guide which ended with coffee & what they called bagel, but was a nutty bready crescent-shaped roll. Town was compact place with a certain shabby charm. I liked it.
Tonight was Captain's farewell cocktails & dinner - quite a swish affair. They served Kir Royale, some kir, a glace cherry & champagne - sweet but yum. Dinner was extra special- the little surprise they serve was foie gras, then a scampi dish, then asparagus soup, then fish or meat, dessert was baked alaska carried out with some ceremony of course.
