Headed for Vide Grenier (translates as open attic, really car boot sale ) up Rue Monge , Rive Gauche, we had seen the sign when we were at the Rue Monge market last week. It started raining as soon as we got there, so we ducked in for cafe & croissant in a cafe, patrons having vin & beer at the bar at 10.30am! - really! We ordered a pain aux raisin for me & pain aux chocolat for M , but they gave us pain aux raisin & croissant, I find in Europe no point arguing in these circumstances, go with the flow! Anyway rain cleared & we hit the market, winners all round, at first stall, I got a box of dominos, possibly alabaster, old I think, for E5, very heavy, 1 kg, but I will throw out some clothes! M got a lovely little music box same stall, she has been on the lookout for same, special request! Needless to say we gave the vide grenier a good going over, other purchases were a little pewter matchbox holder E2 & a silver & enamel ring (to add to the collection)

Stopped at the Rue Monge market & got a a selection of North African pastry things to take back to garret for late lunch, stocked up on cheese again also, sloppy brie & creamy blue, cholesterol - what's that?
